2024 Review

I'm not sure I remember the last time I did one of these, but I've kept enough notes and had a big enough year that I feel like I have something to talk about here. Since getting a copy of Tools of Titan by Tim Ferriss I can't stop thinking about the split of Healthy, Wealthy and Wise. It's been my go to for categorisation of goals, habits, priorities. And I think it requires little explanation about what each might entail. So I've used those as subheadings so you may skip what you like.

Task management

I've always had an interest in personal productivity. Up until you spend more time reading and learning about how to be productive than being productive. I would spend hours researching task managmnet apps and systems to only abandon them a few months down the line. The last time thought I decided to venture out and theorise about a system that would work for me, and here's what I came up with.

This page is designed to last

I've had a blog or personal site for as long as I have been programming now. However it has never lasted. And in multiple aspects. The habit of writing posts and publishing them hasn't lasted and the neither did the site. It's changed domains, URLs, hosting providers, you name it.

Read more poetry

I used to find books very intimidating. It would take me a days or weeks to just make a dent in one. I used to not be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, or the wisdom and knowledge that might be waiting for me in a few more chapters. It wasn't until I decided to try reading A Game of Thrones that I got used to the discomfort of having a million pages to go. I couldn't tell you how long it took me but something changed in my after reading that book.

Cold showers

A few years back while on holiday in France, I realised that if I washed my hair in a cold shower it would look great the next day. So for the next two weeks, I had a cold shower every morning. And of course, everyday was a great hair day. I was excited to continue my new hair routine when I got home but I soon found that cold showers in a cold country wasn't easy. I quickly went back to hot showers and had to find a new way to get my hair to look good.
